The main work of this project lies in experimenting, researching and exploring the material "cork".  

 

Through countless material experiments I got to know and to use the properties of cork. 

Some properties, such as shock resistance, thermal insulation, water repellency, lightness, flexibility and antibacterial effect are ideal conditions for the production of shoe soles. 

 

Together with Lisa Bauer, we mixed more than 60 trials and looked for a suitable binder for the various grains of cork. Based on our findings, we then developed two different materials with different hardnesses and elasticities for the insole and outsole. 

 

Based on the jointly developed sole, we designed two independent sandals.
