segment
public space
formed by a puzzle of benches
One "segment" is an element of a larger puzzle made of fibre-cement benches. The puzzle can be put together differently depending on the room situation or space conditions. The free arrangement creates a different, individually fitting meeting zone on each place.
A "segment" contains a lean-on seat, an armchair, a chair and a raised stool, which all can be used in different ways. Different puzzle combinations can also create double benches or footrests.
The motivation behind this work was to create a place where people can linger, meet, chat and make friends. The place should give people free space and make various types of use possible.
The project was developed in consultative cooperation with Burri public elements and the FHNW.
